Stay229 is a short-stay and long-stay apartment rental platform serving the Beninese market. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it.
1. Who we are
Stay229 is operated by Stay229 SARL, reachable at [email protected] and by phone at +229 01 97 80 56 46. Our platform is available at stay229.com and via our Android applications.
2. What we collect
When you create an account:
- Your name, email address, and phone number
- A profile photo (optional)
- Your password, stored in hashed form — we never see it in plaintext
When you sign in with Google:
- Your Google account name, email address, and profile photo, as shared by Google with our authorization
- We do not receive your Google password
When you book or browse listings:
- The apartments you view and book
- Booking dates, duration, and total price
- Payment transaction references (via PayPlus Africa — we do not store your card numbers)
Automatically, when you use the app:
- Device type and operating system version
- App version
- Push notification token (for booking alerts)
- Approximate connection timestamps
3. Why we collect it

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell it to third parties.
4. Who we share data with
Accommodation providers: When you book an apartment, the provider receives your name, phone number, and booking details.
PayPlus Africa: Our payment processor. Their privacy policy governs how they handle payment data.
Supabase: Our backend infrastructure provider, used for authentication, database storage, and file hosting. Data is stored on servers located in Europe.
Firebase (Google): Used for push notifications only. Firebase receives your device notification token.
We do not share your data with anyone else.
5. How long we keep your data
- Active account: We keep your data as long as your account exists.
- Deleted account: We delete your personal data within 30 days of account deletion, except where we are required by law to keep it longer (e.g., payment records).
- Push tokens: Deleted when you log out or uninstall the app.
6. Your rights
You can, at any time:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your account and associated data
- Withdraw consent for optional data uses (e.g., profile photo)
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format

7. Data security
We use HTTPS encryption for all data in transit. Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms. Access to our database is restricted by role-based policies (Supabase Row Level Security). We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
8. Children
Stay229 is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes, we will notify users via the app or by email before the changes take effect. The "last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent version.
